Drive-thru POC (2017)

Role: Concept, Prototyping

Co-developers: Eddie Espinal

Tools used: Python, Raspberry Pi

In 2017, AKQA began working with Chick-fil-A. Anyone who has ever tried to visit one at lunchtime knows that one of their biggest perennial challenges is long drive-through lines.

Of the many ideas we had to combat this, my favorite was to allow customers to tie their license plate to their Chick-fil-a One account, thereby allowing them to skip payment entirely and saving valuable seconds at the window.

In the demos below, a Raspberry Pi scans the image for license plates, hashes the number, runs that hash against a database of push tokens, and then sends a verification notification to a mock Chick-fil-A app.
